Who We Are
The Southpoint Church of Christ is a gathering of Christians who seek to imitate God, walk in love, and shine a light to the world. We are a spiritual family, bonded together through our faith in God and belief in the sacrifice of Jesus. We meet to worship God and praise Him for who He is, for His care of us, and to maintain our focus of His presence in our lives. With Christ as our foundation, our commitment to fostering close relationships with other members of the body helps us to know one another and care for each other on this journey. We strive to present our bodies as a living sacrifice—not just when we are in a building together—but as a lifelong earthly commitment to our heavenly Father. In that sacrifice, we also look outside of our group to be the hands and feet of Jesus, ministering to our surrounding community while sharing the Good News of Jesus.
Worship
"Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods." -Psalm 95:1-3
Love
“'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'" -Matthew 22:37-39
Serve
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms...If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ." -1 Peter 4:10-11
What We Believe
The purpose of the people making up the Southpoint Church of Christ is simple: we want to honor God with lives completely devoted to Him. Whether we are together in a worship service, at school or our jobs during the week or spending an evening with our families, we want to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. A brief description cannot adequately explain our convictions in detail, but there are some basic items that anchor us together:
WE BELIEVE IN ONE GOD
We believe in the one God revealed in the Bible. We believe there is one God who exists eternally as three distinct persons — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit — and each of those persons is fully and equally God.
THE BIBLE IS GOD’S WORD
We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. We are confident God inspired the individuals who wrote each book of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. When we need direction in life, are confronted with temptation, or need a source to bring hope, we turn to the Bible. We are committed to the continual study of God’s Word striving to give Him the personal and collective worship He desires.
SALVATION
We believe that we are saved by God’s grace though the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. To receive the gift of salvation we must place our faith in Jesus Christ (John 3:16), turn from our sinful life (Acts 2:37-38), and be covered with his blood through baptism (Romans 6:3-11). At that point we become part of Christ’s body (Galatians 3:26-27).
WORSHIP
Most people notice our worship is unique in two aspects: a) our singing is unaccompanied by musical instruments and, b) we take the Lord’s Supper every week. We do so because our study of Scripture has led us to believe this is the way we can best honor our Lord. Our worship services are filled with biblical teaching (sermons), congregational singing, prayer, communion, and giving. Please join us for worship service and/or Bible class!
