Your Turn!

This powerful exploration of Mark 6 challenges us to reconsider what it means to be ready for God's call. Drawing from the image of a student driver navigating rush hour traffic, we're reminded that spiritual maturity isn't about having everything figured out before we serve—it's about stepping forward in faith even when we feel unprepared. The sermon unpacks Jesus sending out the twelve disciples with nothing but their faith, revealing a profound truth: God doesn't wait until we're perfect to use us. Like the morning sun in Proverbs 4:18 that shines ever brighter until full day, our righteousness grows incrementally. We're made righteous in an instant through Christ's blood, but our ability to reflect His light develops over time. The commitments Jesus gave His disciples—taking nothing, taking someone, taking the oil, and taking hardship—aren't burdens but liberating principles. They teach us that our attitude matters more than our resources, that community strengthens our witness, that presence with the suffering is true ministry, and that the gospel's urgency outweighs our comfort. Most beautifully, we're reminded that someone shared the gospel with us before they were perfect, and we shouldn't wait for perfection to share it with others. Our growth happens little by little, just as God promised Israel in Exodus 23, because He's making us big enough for what's coming.
